Some new stuff's going on.

Check out the grade level sections for some new posts.  6th grade will have some new clay sandwiches, 7th will have some portraits and clay containers, and 8th will have clay object mugs.  Great work by all my students.

I made a duct tape tie and one of my students brought in his balloon animal that I made for him like 4 months ago!  They do last!

Trying to keep an Ohio winter exciting

We've got a lot of new things happening in the Art world at Sells.  Two of my students finished a big painting for Mr. Santa-Emma,  the Artists wall of fame is still growing, one of my students made me a sweet duct tape wallet, and I just got 8 cameras from a grant I wrote this past fall.  If you think we have fun doing cool stuff, just wait until you see what else is coming!

8th grade finishes their plaster figures

Inspired by Alberto Giacometti my 8th graders made plaster figures that had to be doing an action.  So unlike Giacometti, ours look really action packed rather than just standing or walking.  Cool stuff!  See the 8th grade section for more.

What a great day!!!!

This woman is solely responsible for inspiring me to become an Art Teacher!

This is Janet Grissom.  She may look like any other normal lady but she is the one who got me hooked on art in high school.  Yesterday 10-19-10 I turn around and there she is standing by my desk.  I haven't seen her for around 11 years!  It was such a joy and treasure to talk to her and have her hang out during my 7th grade class.  This woman is truly a Dublin Art Teaching Legend/All-Star/Hall of Famer.  She is responsible for inspiring many many students to go into the Art field over the years.  What a great pleasure it was to see her, hug her, thank her, and allow my wave mural to be signed by her.   Amazing!

8th grade is working on Action Packed Giacometti sculptures

Here's some awesome still life drawings from this past week.

Starting our first projects on Monday 8/30

6th grade will be studying how line is used as an element of design while creating their own mazes. 7th grade will be studying value while working on a 1/4 inch grid drawing of a photo of their face. (example in progress) 8th grade will begin studying the principles of design by creating a mosaic out of squares punched from magazines. Sweet stuff and I'm so excited to see what we can create this year!!
